You can make peace with food.

I can show you how.

Hi, I’m Katrina!

I help people break free from the diet/binge cycle and return to food and body freedom.

You deserve to live fully.

You deserve nurturing nourishment.

Our Work Will Be Different.

It’s common knowledge that “watching what you eat” (i.e., dieting) is healthy, right?

Common knowledge isn’t always accurate, especially when it comes to food, weight, and health.

Watch my video on “What’s Wrong With Dieting?” to learn more about the “what” and the “why” of my approach…

Here’s How I Help…

Individual Nutrition Counseling

Through individual nutrition counseling, you will learn how to reconnect to your innate sense of when, what, and how much to eat.

Together, we will work through the years of diet mis-information you may have internalized to cultivate a deep sense of connection to your right to nourish yourself.

We will confront internalized fat-phobia and negative body image to help you stop the war with your body and appreciate your precious body for all that it is – so much more than a point on the beauty ideal scale.

You can give yourself nurturing nourishment each and every day!

Family Nutrition Coaching

I help parents make meal-time connection-time.

Are family meals more conflict than connection?

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Through family nutrition coaching, I help parents learn the research-based Division of Responsibility framework for navigating food and family life.

DOR is an uncomplicated framework for taking the power-struggle and “parent-guilt” out of feeding our families by giving parents a developmentally appropriate way of managing food and family.

With family nutrition coaching you can reduce the risk of eating disorders for you and your child(ren) while cultivating a healthy relationship with food.

Group Learning & Support

Group learning and support experiences are so powerful.

Through shared learning and encouragement, we can make profound change or even just feel a little less alone.

I offer support groups and workshops that empower you toward health and healing from diet culture, chronic restrict/binge cycles, and body image concerns.

Group learning and support is offered in person and online.

“Diet culture is a system of beliefs that:

  • Worships thinness and equates it to health and moral virtue, which means you can spend your whole life thinking you’re irreparably broken just because you don’t look like the impossibly thin “ideal.”
  • Promotes weight loss as a means of attaining higher status, which means you feel compelled to spend a massive amount of time, energy, and money trying to shrink your body, even though the research is very clear that almost no one can sustain intentional weight loss for more than a few years.
  • Demonizes certain ways of eating while elevating others, which means you’re forced to be hyper-vigilant about your eating, ashamed of making certain food choices, and distracted from your pleasure, your purpose, and your power.
  • Oppresses people who don’t match up with its supposed picture of “health,” which disproportionately harms women, femmes, trans folks, people in larger bodies, people of color, and people with disabilities, damaging both their mental and physical health.”

Good Body Image

Many people spend their whole lives dedicated to it in every way that money can buy.

Many people are so fiercely devoted to this pursuit that to suggest otherwise is inconceivable.

Nourishing No-Bake Energy Bites – Make Great “Galentine’s Day” Gifts!

As if the above reasons were not enough to make you want to head to your kitchen, it gets even better—these bars (or balls, as I often form them into ball shapes), also make perfect gifts -I made a batch of chocolate chip peanut butter ones for my mom for Mother’s Day and gave them to her in a cute oversized coffee mug. With Valentine’s Day coming up, they make great “Galentine’s Day” gifts!

Why Anti-Diet Dietitians Are A “Thing”

Our culture’s deeply held belief that thinness and dieting are “healthy” is not based in science, but instead by the profound influence of diet culture in every aspect of our lives, even, and especially, our doctors’ offices.

The Why and How of Family Mealtime…

Today it can feel harder than ever to get everyone around the table, phones/tablets down, at the same time. Then, mealtime can become a battle of the tastes with everyone expecting foods that they like and will eat. But, with a little creative planning, mealtime can go more smoothly for everyone, whether it’s a group of ten or two, family meal time can be enjoyable.

How to Cope With Weight Gain When You Stop Restricting

When you finally decide to reject diet culture and begin nourishing your body, weight gain becomes a very real possibility, especially if you've been maintaining an artificially lower weight.   And, if you are living in a culture that highly values a...

3 Things You Can Do Right Now to Raise Children Who Are Healthy Eaters

Who wants to put less effort in when it comes to meal times? Who wants to just sit and enjoy their meal and talk about their day or plans for the weekend? Who wants to focus on connecting with their families at the table instead of fighting over food? Well, I’m here...

10 Steps to Ditch Your Diet (For Real)

Diets don’t work; if they did, we would all be our perfect ideal weight/size/shape.  We wouldn’t be jumping on the next fad diet come January 1, and we wouldn’t be spending $60 billion per year on trying to shrink our bodies. We believe that our diets don't work, or...

We need a new conversation about food and weight.

There is an intersection where we find ourselves starved for the core sense of love, acceptance, belonging, and security, all of which evoke embodied feelings of satiety, warmth, fullness, and calm; and the prevalence of cheap, readily accessible foods that have little nutritional value, but also evoke a temporary sense of satiety, warmth, fullness, and calm.

“I’ve been doing very well with my relationship with food and my eating habits while being in the middle of a quarantine.  I do believe that this is due to the fact that you have helped me get to a much better place with my food relationship and myself!”

I believe…

in every body’s deep inner knowing about what, when, and how to eat.

I believe…

in Health At Every Size – weight is NOT a primary indicator of health or well-being.

I believe…

diets and diet culture are the problem and not the solution. Nutrition counseling should not include rigid meal plans or a focus on weight loss.

I believe…

in respect and dignity for all bodies. Health care should be a place of healing for people in bodies of all shapes and sizes.

I believe…

in our human right to enjoy the pleasure that food, community, tradition, and celebration offer to us.

I believe…

in our human right to nurture and nourish ourselves.

You deserve to achieve so much MORE than just the pursuit of thinness.

You deserve a FULL LIFE, full of JOY, full of FUN, full of CONNECTION AND LOVE.

You deserve your own nurturing nourishment.

I’d be honored to support you on your healing journey.
