Group Healing

Why Groups Are Awesome for Healing

Support Groups are an ideal healing experience for the kinds of worries that bring people to therapy.
1. Groups help us know that we are not alone, nor uniquely troubled. Just hearing from one other person who shares our experience can decrease our distress and help us to know that we are actually pretty normal.

2. Hearing support, ideas, and solutions from other members can help solve problems we’ve been stuck on.

3. When we provide support and share ideas and solutions with others, we tend to feel better about ourselves and realize we have more going for us than we thought.

At Avalon, we see everything from a brain-based perspective, even groups!

At the end of the day, humans are mammals and we need to feel connected to our heard. We need to feel a sense of acceptance and belonging to feel ok.

Group healing can be profound healing.

Avalon Psychotherapy Associates believes that each person deserves a healthy and fullfilling relationship. We recognize that relationships are as unique as the people in them.

Relationships are healthy, not by their label, but by the degree of honesty, skilled communication, and problem-solving that each partner brings to the relationship.

We support couples, polycules, and metamours in cultivating the ability to create rich, healthy relationships where each partner feels seen, heard, respected, and understood.

To support the health of all relationships, we are offering a unique service to partners in polyamory relationships.

Poly Partners Therapeutic Meetings are an opportunity for members of polycules and metamours to come together, with the support of a skilled therapist, to communicate, problem-solve, and enhance the health and functioning of each relationship.

This service is offered by Amy Kirby, LMSW and can be arranged by contacting Amy directly.

The base fee for this service is $450 for 4 partners or less. Five (5) or more partners are charged at a rate of $100 per partner. Each meeting is 2.5 – 3.0 hours in length. Partners may choose to have one meeting or multiple meetings depending on your needs.
